I watched several things this week, both online and on TV, remembering 9/11. It always gets me, but one video just reduced me to tears. It was really powerful.
As long as I live I will never forget that day, that perfect, clear, blue skied, sunny day, coming out of the grocery store and turning on the radio and hearing that a plane had hit the WTC. WHAT?!? What kind of idiot is piloting a plane that can't see the huge building in front of his face? Good grief!
And then we heard about the second plane. And I knew. I knew this was no accident, and I knew our country would never be the same again. I went home and sat glued to the TV. When the Pentagon was hit, I nearly fell to the floor. I prayed like I've never prayed before, for our country to be saved.
I remember the days afterwards, when everyone pulled together. People lined up for blocks to donate blood. Flags flying everywhere, some drawn by hand becuase you couldn't find them in the stores. People talking to each other, even to strangers. We weren't black or white. We weren't Democrats and Republicans. We weren't this or that. We were Americans. We stood together to send a message to the cowards who attacked us. We stood in support of those who died, of those who lost loved ones, of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for others.
My kids talked about it at school today "a little bit". They were too young to really understand when it all happened. They were too young to remember. But I remember. I will never forget. WE must never forget.
God Bless America

I remember you calling me midday because you were bringing us dinner (we had just had Theresa) and you cautiously were trying to find out if we had heard or not. We just sat on my sofa and watched in silence. The spaghetti pie was delicious though!!!
